baggage and easter

we've all got 
baggage

that's just the plain 
honest truth

we carry stuff
with us through life

on occasion 
we find what it takes 
to open up the old stuff
and look through it

on a really good day
we discover the ability
to remove some 
of the stuff

on exceptionally good days
we throw some of the 
stuff away
for
ever

on days 
that aren't as good
we stuff all 
that stuff back inside

and latch 
everything up 
tight 
and
carry 
the baggage 
into tomorrow
a
gain.

even this day 
after easter
we discover
we are not the only 
ones 
who like peter
     who like judas
got so weighed down with 
their baggage 
they couldn't find their way

i'm not particularly 
stuck at the moment
in fact i'm really 
ok 
today

my baggage is lighter 
than it used to be

i've just been reminded 
that we are united 
in the fact 
that we all have baggage
and the baggage 
often determines 
our mood
and our perspective
and focus

it's the day after 
easter

we've moved out of the garden
we've lived through the 
darkness of golgotha
and now
we discover again
what easter
has to do 
with 
this day
and what easter has to do 
with the things we carry
and what easter 
has to do 
with.....
