it requires
humility
the ability
to smile
even when
you are dying
on the inside
i've traveled that
road more than once
thankfully i am in
a different place
oh...
humility remains
however
not at the cost
of losing
self respect
i suppose there
is a difference in humility
that is self
imposed
and humility
that is crammed
down
ones throat
forced humility
is abuse
in disguise
and the disguise
comes in a lot
of flavors
most of which are
bitter
humility
in the face of those
who do not care enough
to know the
bigger story
is not
humility
that fosters life
and yet
sometimes
all one can do is
smile
while dying on the inside
while taking the
next step
to a different place in life
for those who
find the courage
and the strength
to move on
to life
that is deeper
and richer
i give thanks
for each time
someone finds
their way
another person
claims
hope
to do the same
