lenten tree

a tree
we call
our
lenten tree

we are filling it with
cut out paper leaves
upon which we
write words
phrases and
paragraphs
which we call
story leaves

each speaks a
story

our first stories
voice our fears
our second
stories will
share all the things
we are waiting for
our third leaf will
hold some of our dreams

there is something about making
known your fears
and dreams

it takes courage to
speak them out loud

during lent
that is what
the community of faith
i am part of is doing

i took time to read
each leaf

oh
the fear
the prayers

that lead
to hope
and love

it
is lent

and we
spend time
speaking out loud
our stories

it is lent

i pray
your story
finds
a place
an ear
to be heard
