repeat

life patterns
and cycles
have a tendency
to repeat.

some are as beautiful
as the changing leaves of fall
or the new green of grass in spring.

others though
are more in line with
hurricanes and tornadoes
hail and freezing sleet.

as humbling as it is to admit
i have to
ad
  mit....
the root of wisdom
the growth of maturity
comes about
from both
the beautiful
patterns and cycles of life
and those defined as
difficult and
bad.

both the beautiful and the bad
work to carve out
insight and perspective
and ultimately new life.

i've learned
the only way to glean and discern
truth
from life patterns and cycles
that come with turmoil and unrest
and passive aggressive behavior
is by way of
space and time.

in some instances
space and time must be
intentionally
c r e a t e d.
                on other occasions
                nature takes her course.

working to create and savor
space and time
for healing and discernment
is critical
for life.

i've learned to chart the hurricanes
and tornadoes of life
with the precision
of a meteorologist.

i've learned to measure the
pressures and temperatures
with the help of others.

it has required the
humility to listen
tenacity to reflect
courage to change
wisdom to know when
to take words and actions personally
the discipline to diligently work
so as to not repeat certain
patterns and cycles
and the joy to savor the
beautiful and meaningful.

perfection is not the goal.
repetition
  repetition
    repetition
is the goal.

humility
tenacity
courage
wisdom
discipline
joy
savor
repeat.....

hurricanes and tornadoes repeat as well
but with advance warning
the threats and ravages of
emotional storms
have less and less
space and time
to harm.

repeat
and learn.

repeat
and live.

and repeat
again.
