the church bought with eggs

They bought the land with their egg money...
The women of the church had a vision.
Move the church...
and that they did.

This was during an era
when
only men
were allowed to make decisions in the church...
an era when women were relegated
to teaching children and cleaning the kitchen...
an era when the church
interpreted and enforced
the Biblical mandate
that it was
not only inappropriate
but immoral to
ordain women
to serve the church.

Ordination or not
the women of the church
in Gatesville,
Texas
continued to dream
and work
and influence.

They used their egg money
to back up their vision....
to convince the men
of their insight...
for they believed
the church needed to move.

Their egg money
bought the land
upon which our
church now sits.
$150 bought the lot!

For I am serving a church
bought with eggs....
the land that is.

I can't help but think
the faith of the women
with their eggs
paved the way
for not only land
for the church to sit....
but
helped to
open minds
and hearts
to the fact that
God indeed calls women
to serve the church ....
God calls women to be
ordained to
teach and lead.

Here in this small town...
the women led the way
with their egg money!
