the tree lights
are on
peeking through the dark
reminding us

there is 
a

to another place
no matter

we currently
find ourselves

we are no different
from mary
or joseph

they were everyday
ordinary
folk
doing what they were supposed to do
doing what they could do
and when a
voice of

   ordinary

spoke
they were left to 
ponder
wonder
trust

and the porch light 
is just that
an invitation 
to ponder
wonder 

to trust

to wander in again 
and discover
or re
discover 
a place
to belong

the porch light is on
for you
for me
for them
for us

the porch light

and i am not the one 
who turned it on
nor did you
nor did they....

the one who breathed out
creation    
and spoke covenant
is the
ONE
who 
leaves the light on
