morning was 
calm
after the storm

the trees were still

i could sense
again 
from within
the presence 
of peace

thankful 
for 
morning 
conversations
reminders of 
love 
and being loved

thankful for 
wise 
guidance 
by one who 
listens

thankful
for scatterings 
of laughter
and a quick 
lunch 

after a 
day of 
thrashing 
wind and 
rain 
and threat
today
is calm

though 
there are those
in great need 
today
as they get 
a look at 
what the storm took

so from
within 
this calm
