why are some

heavier than 

others?

i spoke

words to a friend

clarifying 

all the while 

i was 

speaking to myself...

about

this thing

this habit

we must let go

of.

we hear three words 

designed to 

critique, hurt, tear down,

and they are given 

more emphasis,

more power...

more weight

than the twenty other 

words spoken and written

for encouragement,

healing, 

lifting up.

why?

why...on some days

do some words

carry more weight?

and why 

do snarly,

snippy,

sour words

get more distance

and dig more deeply?

it has everything to do 

with the recipient

this is what 

i have been told

how the words 

are received

matter.

it is time

to evaluate this 

process

again

and consider 

why it is 

we allow 

some words

more 

weight than 
others.

in the end...

meant to return
