lasting words...

unlike sticks 

that break 

and stones 

that crumble...

words last

for better 

and worse...

words last.  

some words

spoken aren't worth

keeping...

other 

words are 

meant for a life

time

to cherish

and hold

and keep.

i've been thinking of 

spoken words

and the ones who spoke them...

words of promise,

respect, love,

relationship, 

hope,

gratitude...

words spoken 

that i might hear

words i choose

to keep

no matter what.

grass withers

flowers fade

but words...

holy life breathing

life creating

life nurturing

life sustaining

words

remain forever.

so to those who have 

spoken such 

life giving, loving 

words to me

during my lifetime

i hold on to the words

you spoke 

and the words you speak

no matter what

i hold on 

to 

lasting words.
