lasting gifts

not long ago

i was handed a 

sweet little gift...

a hand knit 

nest with four wooden eggs 

along with the gift 

these words:

"i see four major areas 

in life where you have 

been gifted.  take this

nest and these eggs 

and let them remind you 

of the gifts i see...the gifts

you need to never forget." 

so....

i sit today

pondering

cherishing

savoring 

the gifts

that have come into my life

of late...

this i know

some gifts

are lasting

and are for keeps...

the best of these 

gifts come with love.

i have been so blessed 

to have loved and been loved

if i were never to be loved again...

if i were never to love again...

the love i've already 

been gifted with 

would sustain me

for the rest of my life.

but this i know

GOD is a god 

of surprises and joy

and 

i can celebrate 

that i'm not 

yet done

loving...

nor am i finished being loved.
