resisting the norm...

liminal...
a word i learned in a
theology class.

liminal:
defines a
life changing moment.

liminal:
divorce,
birth of a child,
loss of a job,
death of a loved one,
moving,
discernment,
moving out of denial,
admitting addiction...

anything
that changes life
patterns and perspective
is liminal.

Roy Howard writes:

The life of faith means at least this:
living in liminal space -
cultivating the capacity of heart
to hear Christ's
invitation
and stepping out of comfortable,
yet unsatisfying structures
toward a future that
only God knows.

Once we grasp that Peter did

not drown and neither will we,
then wild freedom begins.

i never thought of

liminal
being a norm for living...

but if it means

digging deeper into life
to discover peace and freedom
then
that is a norm
worth
having.

my definition for
liminal:
being surprised by God
in ways that
give you courage
to live and savor life.
