a day for purple
Many this day wear purple.
A message
to bullies in this world
whose words and actions
are designed to
humiliate,
hurt,
and
hate.
Many are wearing
purple
TODAY
in
solidarity
with the families
whose gay children
were ultimately broken
by the
humiliating,
hurtful and hateful
words of bullies.
Purple today!
Despite how many times
some repeat
that being born gay is a choice.
The only choice I witness
is the closing of ears and hearts
and the repeating of words
over and over and over and over and over
believing if all these misinformed words are
repeated enough times
they will become the truth.
Repeat hate.
A choice Tommy Crosby made....
a bully
who repeated his words of hate
day after day after day after day after day.
Yet in the end his words
have no power.
In the end
his words
give power
to those of us
who wear
purple
today.
Purple today
for those who hide behind their words of fear and hate.
Purple today for those who cast their vote.
Purple today
for those who will line up at microphones
to debate matters of church polity.
Purple today
for all those
who are at a breaking point
weighed down,
beat up
by
bullying.
Purple today
for
we who
wear it....
choose
hope
and life
for those
who
can't.
