knock knock...

Knock, knock...

A couple of knock, knock
jokes interspersed the liturgy.
Subtle at first.

Knock, knock the pastor spoke...
the people respond:
Welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you!

Knock, knock the pastor spoke...
the people respond:
As for those who are weak in faith,
welcome them,
but not for disputes over opinions.

Knock, knock the pastor spoke...
the people respond:
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers,
for some have done so
unaware
they have welcomed angels.

The pastor says:
Open the doors brothers and sisters.
The people respond:
Open the doors for the glory of God!

At the end of the service
near the front door of the church
one parishioner spoke:

Knock, knock.
Whose there? (said the pastor)

Will.
Will who? (asked the pastor)
Will miss you a lot.

Indeed
I WILL too.
