Cross Town Buses Run All Day Doo Dah, Doo Dah

Michael has a chance to be bussed to a better school in a white neighborhood but he is determined to get out of it. Florida and James first hear about the opportunity when his principle arrives to question them about their responses on a busing questionnaire that Michael responded to and forged his parents name.

My brother was in one of the first classes when integration laws became mandatory. Seems the school district I grew up in took every last available day before the law became a reality. Sadly...I can remember the last vestiges of separate water fountains and seating areas for Whites and Afro-Americans in the movie theater. I go home now and the not so whispered racist comments flourishing have to do with the Latino/Mexican/Hispanic population. Many of these comments are made by active church members in the various churches there. We don't like to admit that racism, prejudice, hatred is a choice.
