Time in between.
The cross is empty now...
the tomb
not
yet.
Wait.
The only thing
to do
in between
Good Friday
and
Easter Sunday.
How much of life
is like this
very moment.
In between...
what was
and what will be.
All the things we say
in between:
"It will all work out, just trust."
"Be patient you'll get where you're going."
"Everything is going to be o.k.!"
In between...
is not always
the most pleasant place to be.
I for one
am ready...
for it to work out,
to get where I'm going...
for everything to be o.k.
In between...
sometimes
fills empty,
lonely,
un
end
ing.
I'll wait.
It's all
I can do.
I'll wait...
and while I do
I give thanks for
those things
and people
who fill me with joy:
good music
and a book...
comedy central
and my dogs...
the words spoken to me
by a Pastor in another state:
"Welcome home!"
and my daughters phone call
in the middle of Good Friday worship
(my phone was silenced!)
In between.
I wait.
We wait.
Eventually
tomorrow will come.

We wait in hope.
