Day trip with the Presbyterian Women...

all photos by Blake Spencer
This is the Texas Bluebonnet....
the flower getting most of the attention.

This is the Indian Paintbrush.
The co-star of the wildflower season.

The tiny purple flowers growing underneath
the above stars of the season.

We saw brilliant fields of yellow.
In a field like this
one can only wonder

if Paula Dean were God
she would create this field
smathered in butter!

On the way home we
stopped by the Hindu Temple
in Temple, Texas.

Flowered floor outside the Temple.

We ate lunch in Zabcikville and drank coffee in Salado.

When we finished with lunch
and driving back in the direction of home

the oldest in the van said,
"We can't go home yet! It's too early. We just can't go home yet."

We didn't.
We rolled into the church parking lot around 3:45.

When I announced on Facebook
that I would be huntin' wildflowers with
the Presbyterian Women....
one friend posted:

"What? You're going to look for Presbyterian churches
with wild women in a flower van?"
Oh the women loved that when I told them!
They claimed their identity with joy!

A good day indeed.
