lessons i've learned - part two

A number of members in the church
have a sense of
entitlement and freedom
to openly and consistently
share their political
thoughts and opinions.
Often these are the very ones
who do not appreciate or
tolerate thoughts and opinions
differing from their own.

It is possible to live in a diverse
community....to not only
tolerate but love others who
do not agree with you.
It has and can be done!

Many twenty somethings,
thirty somethings,
forty somethings and...o.k.
fifty somethings...
are thoughtful, faithful,
and hard working.
Just because

many of these folks
don't
automatically do what
others say they "ought" to do
and have a certain amount
of joyful freedom to explore
what it is they love to do is
a positive not a negative
for society and the church.

The church will survive
despite our ability to
neglect it and even kill it.

Questions and doubt
are just as valid
and important
and necessary
as answers and
confidence.

If we follow where
Jesus led and leads...
we will
indeed be changed.
We will meet
unexpected people
in unexpected places.
We will be invited
and expected to love
people DIFFERENT
from us!

Churches are like people
some are
aggressive,
some are passive,
some are passive aggressive.
