For the past nine months (hmmm symbolic period of time) I've been in counseling. No, I'm not ashamed to say this because I know that getting help from a counselor takes courage and wisdom. A strong person understands she or he needs to stop from time to time to reflect on life with another person. When that other person is an unbiased person trained to listen and offer direction ones reflection and discernment can be quite productive. I believe everyone can benefit from counseling. I believe when a person becomes vulnerable enough to reflect on struggles, fears, and stumbling blocks that person opens him or herself to the depth and power of God's grace.
My fortune cookie read the other day: Wisdom is not found in success but in failure and pain. Hmmm. Counseling has helped me uncover new wisdom. Today I did not schedule another appointment. After nine months I am breathing new life!
