Three of us went to a Healing and Wholeness worship service last night. I knew what to expect, I did not know how profound the simple moment of worship would be. Moments of silence....even though a string of emergency vehicles with their sirens passed by. Individual prayer and anointment. Communion.
In the front of the little chapel three candle sconces lit, flickering.....a tangible symbol of the Holy Trinity. I sat watching the candle flames dance. The Trinity, God behind us, God with us, God before us. I began the new year with this reminder.
A prayer for the new year:
"O good and gracious God. Why do I forget? You have long been with me revealing grace filled clues. Why do I forget? You are with me right now. You know me. You love me. You give me strength and courage to live into the person you created me to be. Why do I forget? You promise to take the next step in life with me. O good and gracious God. Remind me......again and again....remind me.... that you are with me on every side in every way. Amen.

Great thought. How easy it is to forget that God is with us and God is gracious?!?
