throw open the doors!

Part of my job for the summer of 2008 is to preach to Senior High youth at Montreat. This summers theme is "Throw Open the Doors!"

I need your help! Do you know some good scenes in the movies involving a door? A scene where someone is being welcomed, locked out, etc. I would like to find a variety of styles.....cartoons, old film, silent film, new.

Help me out!

Still thinking about movies, but I thought of a few songs:

Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door"
Kyle Matthews' "The Door That Christ Has Opened"
Charlie Rich's "Behind Closed Doors" lol
Rich Mullins' "Screen Door on a Submarine"

And a little trivia...
Each year at the State Opening of Parliament, the door to the House of Commons is slammed in the face of the monarch, symbolizing their ability to debate without any outside interference.

Okay, a friend with whom I shared your blog suggested I recommend "As Good As It Gets," as there are so many great scenes set around Mr. Udall's (Jack Nicholson)door.

JOsh ... in Canada we do it in a little more genteel way ... our parlimentary procedure involves the Queen's Rep KNOCKING on a closed door asking to be let in to address the House of Commons ...

Two scenes that stand out in my mind that have endless possibility for the Youth bit are Harry Potter - the Hogwarts train and the safe house in the most recent films that unfolds when called ...

I'll second the AS Good as it Gets scenes, though I'd skip Ms Hunt's wet tee-shirt scene !!!! Or atleast when the youth are around !!!

Musically use Clapton - "Knock, Knock, Knocking on Heaven's Door"

The movie "sliding doors" comes to mind. it's a few years old with Gwenth Paltrow. It's all about choices in life and basically how our path leads to the right one for us not matter what.

Also there's an old Skip Ewing song "The Door" which talks about the parts of ourselves we won't share with anyone else. Skip Ewing is hard to find but the words might come up on a search engine.

Umm, how about "Monsters Inc" Lots of doors and wonderful analogies of "monsters" behind doors...or are they really monsters?
