funny bone

It just struck me funny. I drove back in from the big city to begin another week of life and work in Gatesville where I serve a small but spunky congregation. When I got out of my car I noticed some loud music playing. Thinking it was the neighbors next to the church I went on with life. Atleast the music was not as loud as the truck mufflers that seem to breed in this area of the country.

Linda came in to finish communion preparations and said, "Why don't you come with us. The bank is having thier 120th anniversary. There is free food and music." So I went.

I had a cherry sno-cone, barbecue sandwich with chips and a diet Dr. Pepper. As I sat and visited and listened to the Elvis and Beetles sing songs from the past and watched neighbors dance the night away I realized something that made me laugh.

All this rock-n-roll and dancing was happening under the steeple of the Baptist church.

We've come a long way baby!
