diversity reality

Diversity exists
whether we like it or not,
believe it or not,
want it or not,
deal with it or not,
accept it or not.

God created...
breathed life,
Spirit hovered.

All things were made,
and it was good.

Diversity is
God's
creativity,
power,
joy,
breath.

Box God in
if you so desire,
but be prepared,
be surprised.

Open wide your mind
and heart,
but be prepared
be surprised.

I suppose I've lived
long enough
to have known
and have experienced
the effects of
prejudice....
for I have been
gifted beyond measure
to live in a family of
diverse reality.

Surprising to me?
Those who claim to
appreciate,
celebrate,
savor,
enjoy,
affirm,
acknowledge
the beauty of
God's making,
God's diversity...

And then
have the
ability,
the gumption,
the audacity
to
push aside
a gift
presented
in an
unexpected
wrapping.

The reality of diversity.
Diversity reality.

Hem and haw.
Scream and shout.
Hide and deny.

Look aside.
Push away.
Stand your ground.

Pontificate.
Mull over.
Rack your brain.

Do all these things.

But in the end...
be prepared,
be
surprised.

For it seems the breath
God breathes
comes from the
north,
and the south,
the east
and the west;

The valley
and the mountain,
the cold
and the hot,
the near and the far.

For we...
you and me
are
God dreamed.
God created.
God breathed.

Do what you need...
but in the end
be prepared,
be surprised.
