taking a break from Lent...

The first moment of Lent began with Ashes.
The latest experience was death
of a beloved Elder in the church
all the while the
lectionary passages won't let us go...
the message:

Why do you argue?
Why do you judge each other?
Why do you fail to see God's image in your neighbor?

The message wears thin for some...
especially those who are
accustomed to boxing
God in...
in
to
their image.

But...
now I take a tiny break
from the truth speaking of Lent.

Yesterday I sat in the sun
with my daughter and son,
mother and father,
great nephew and niece,
sister and
the woman
bearing my grandson to be.

We rested,
laughed,
enjoyed.

A welcomed break...
before the
darkness of
Holy Week
arrives.

This break
whispers
new life.
There is new life
just around the
corner.
Thank
goodness.
