in the East Texas pines.
Pine needles, bark and cones...
sun dancing between the branches...
and my favorite...
the blanket of fallen needles
on the ground.
Home.
Spent half my life...
a father.
One son.
One daughter.
Both strong.
Both wise.
Both loved and loving.
Home.
Learning now,
mid century of my life,
to live...
in my own skin.
Carving out a new home
that has been within me
all along the way.
Learning now,
as change has stripped away
so many things...
But each new day
I wake
and discover yet again...
I have enough.
I always have.
I do today...
and will tomorrow.
Home.
