home...

Spent my childhood growing up
in the East Texas pines.
Pine needles, bark and cones...
sun dancing between the branches...
and my favorite...
the blanket of fallen needles
on the ground.

Home.

Spent half my life...
a father.
One son.
One daughter.
Both strong.
Both wise.
Both loved and loving.

Home.

Learning now,
mid century of my life,
to live...
in my own skin.

Carving out a new home
that has been within me
all along the way.

Learning now,
as change has stripped away
so many things...

But each new day
I wake
and discover yet again...

I have enough.
I always have.
I do today...
and will tomorrow.

Home.
