our disappointment with leaders is
escalating rapidly……
our disappointment stems from a
sea of change
in the conditions of leadership
imposed by our new global
environment. In short something
is on the way out, and something
else is painfully being born.”
(Peter Drucker)
"Historians say the same
thing about the period in
American history
immediately preceding the
Civil War. It’s as the Apostle
Paul wrote…. the whole creation
groaning in labor,
as the new creation,
the new being in Jesus Christ,
is born. "
(John Buchanan)
The simple issue is that we
don’t like to experience pain
of any kind.
The real issue is that when our
entire society is in the midst of
fundamental change….
the larger church is caught
up in the same….
which means individual congregations
are effected as well.
So like the people of faith before
us at other crucial historical moments
we gather, filled with all sorts of
emotions and thoughts…..
and no matter what our emotions
or thoughts are….
we are all saying the same thing
to each other
and to God.
Something has to be done.
Something has to be done!
And what should we
expect God to do?
What God has always done.
Jesus looked the disciples
in the eye and said….
you have the ability and
the resources
to take care of the hunger pains.
God has already given you
the grace and the power.
Recognize what God has
already given you.
