My children had the fortune of having the same third grade teacher when we lived in San Antonio, Ms. Sanchez. She taught at Colonies North Elementary. Ms. Sanchez if you or out there this post is for you!
My son and daughter both made a golden walnut ornament for our Christmas tree. Inside the walnut our once third grade children wrote what they hoped they hoped to do when they grew up. The walnut came with an attached note which reads, "Crack this nut open when I turn 18." We have lovingly hung our children's nuts on the tree each year waiting for the moment we could read their messages.
This is the year my son cracks open his walnut! I am looking forward to this more than any other event this Christmas season.
While I'm on the topic our 16 year old daughter handed us her carefully written Christmas list. Oh, y'all this girl is so funny. She is truly a delight. She asked for some small items most kids detest getting for Christmas....some suggestions for cd's, and a Ferrari with the added note: You can find one cheap this year. The last thing on her list was, our love! She ended her not with happy faces and hearts and this message, "Now get to you shananagins!"
I do love my two children.
