another way?

There is always another way of doing things. Too often members in the church get stuck and demand that "things" be done a certain way. It's the old proverbial, "We've always done it this way."

Everytime I read scripture, in particular the New Testatment, I encounter Jesus' push to see and expereince "things" in a different way. How many times has it been said that God through Jesus Christ and with the Holy Spirit turns our world upside down! Notions of strength are revealed in weakness...wealth in poverty...wisdom in foolishness...

The inability to use the gifts of our hearts and minds to turn the "things" in this world upside down have cost the church credibility through the years. We wonder why people leave the church. We wonder why people don't come to the church.

If we aren't allowing God to turn upside down our sin, disfunction, hatred, fear, or anxiety...then we aren't allowing God to ripen wisdom, joy, forgivenness or life.

Surely there is another way.

I'm a living sunset
Lightning in my bones
Push me to the edge
But my will is stone

I believe in a better way
I believe in a better way

Fools will be fools
And wise will be wise
But i will look this world
Straight in the eyes

I believe in a better way
I believe in a better way

What good is a man
Who won't take a stand
What good is a cynic
With no better plan

I believe in a better way
I believe in a better way

Reality is sharp
It cuts at me like a knife
Everyone i know
Is in the fight of their life

I believe in a better way
I believe in a better way

Take your face out of your hands
And clear your eyes
You have a right to your dreams
And don't be denied

I believe in a better way
I believe in a better way
I believe in a better way

Good message, but I find this photograph very disturbing. Not sure why. I guess I'm just like the rest of 'em.
