here and there today...

Random things from today:

On the NBC local morning news a female news anchor reported that the Methodist Church was having a regional meeting. She reported how many lay members would be present and how many clergymen would attend. Clergymen? You have to be joking. Clergymen?

How long does it take to change some language? We've changed stewardess to flight attendant, mailman to mail carrier, newsman to news anchor.... Yet, clergy remain masculine. News alert...the Methodist Church, many Presbyterians, the Episcopal Church and other denominations ordain women to serve the church as full fledged ministers. It's appropriate to simply say clergy when referring to a group of men and women who are ordained ministers!

Road the transit train to campus today to meet with a professor about serving as my Adviser for my Doctor of Ministry project. I love riding the train, and enjoyed visiting the professor. I am doing my project on Baptism as a Daily Sacrament/Rediscovering the Reformed Discipline of Piety.

My wife turned 49 today! She is tired of people wishing her a Happy Birthday. I think she had a good day.

My daughter and I went to an organizing meeting for a country dance group at the school. She wants to be on the team. Unfortunately, 50 others plan to try out. Only 13 girls will be chosen. I'm not counting her out just yet!

Ate lunch with Stu and Linda Ross. They are mission consultants with the Presbyterian Outreach Foundation serving in Kenya. I've added their link to the right column of this blog. Check them out! When they return to Kenya they will dedicate the 102nd Presbyterian Church in Kenya!
