Don't know what these flowers are called. They are almost a fluorescent shade growing on large bushes.
Have now been educated....
this is a pomegranate blossom
When the bright vivid orange red blossoms wither and fall off this is what is left.
Another bloom in the park.

the blossoms in question ALMOST look like pomegranate flowers ... google image them and take note of the 'after' of the blossoms ... almost an exact match to your pic ...
Watch and see if fruit develops ... then call me ... I LOVE POMEGRANATE!!!
