healing

I'll never forget his words...
He stood before the body to speak his opinion.
His idea of church...
big steeple,
big budget,
big buildings,
big membership,
big programs,
big schedules,
big power,
B I G.

The topic that day...
small church.

"Why should we coddle small churches?"
He asked....
certainly not expecting an answer.

"Small churches...
struggling churches...
churches with challenges...
Perhaps they are simply
unsuccessful....
and we
should
not
be weighed down
by
un -
success."
He said.

Stunned by his words...
all we could do was
grumble
and murmur.

So,
now....
I serve...
and live
in a church
defined as
tiny
by today's standard.

Unsuccessful?
Perhaps some people
might say so.

Unsuccessful?
I would not
and do not
say so.

This
"tiny"
church
is busy
healing....

Me.

This
"tiny"
church
has brought
alive
God's grace.

For me.
In me.

This
"tiny"
church
makes real
God's
presence
and promise.

Unsuccessful?
Hardly so!

One tiny church
praying,
studying,
singing,
worshipping,
laughing
and
healing.

One
tiny
church
doing what
Christ
did.
