Delivered into Newness

So if faith is a journey unfolding each day.... Then God meets me today and tomorrow.

If faith is a journey unfolding each day....
Then I rely on God's grace and mercy to unfold before me today and tomorrow.

Because faith is a life long journey...
Then each day I must turn from my own ways and turn to God.
I must turn from my mistakes, failures, and utter stubborness and turn to God for a brand new beginning.

Because faith is a life long journey....
I trust that God will deliver me into newness today and tomorrow.

Knowledge of God and knowledge of ourselves are intertwined. We cannot know God without being shocked into self-recognition, and we cannot know our true humanity without new awareness of who God is. - Daniel L. Migliore

Being delivered into newness involves recognizing self, and on any given day self-recognition can be an intimidating exercise.

Self-recognition.
On a daily basis I fail.
On a daily basis I feel too deeply.
On a daily basis I speak words that should go left unspoken.
On a daily basis I fail to trust that God is at my side and before me.

Self-recognition.
On a daily basis I must find the courage to recognize my failure.
On a daily basis I must learn to not take things personally.
On a daily basis I must silence my tongue and allow others to speak.
On a daily basis I must find the wisdom and hope to recognize God's presence.

Self-recognition.
Today I turn again to the Christ who stands before me with open arms.
Today I open my eyes, ears, and heart to the forgivenness and love only God can offer.

Today I affirm again....I am a child of God and do not belong to myself, but belong to God in life and in death.

Self-recognition.
Today God has power and love enough to deliver me into newness.
And if God does that today....then God will do this tomorrow.

Faith is a journey.
Today.
Tommorrow.

Born again...and again....and again... and ever and always growing up. That's what we are.
