change of address...

Walls, roof,
windows...
change
of address.
What
once
we called home
has changed.

Where do you feel safe?
The question
for Sunday morning.
Teenagers
plopped
on couches...
eating
sausage kolaches
and
glazed donuts.

They answer.
"Home."
Home is where I am safe.

But what happens
when the place
we called home
is no more?

I looked across the room
our eyes met.
We knew the
home
answer
was complicated
for us.

Where is home?
Where do I feel safe?
My home
has
no roof
or
walls...
windows
or
address.

My home
is
next
to her
even as we
sit quietly
in a truck
driving.

My daughter
is my home.

My home
is
next to him
even as he
rushes from
one duty to the next.

My son
is my home.

Where do I feel safe?
At home.
