My boss is quite funny.
Seems my complaints
and other whinning
have been heard.
How do I know?
I opened the Bible
to the Lectionary passage last week
and
there it was in black and white:
Job....
Job's story....
The particular scripture chosen
for the day was God's response to Job.
God's first words to Job:
"Gird up your loins like a man."
"Tighten your belt, hold on tight, brace yourself....
for now I will ask you some questions."
Yikes!
I've done a lot of talking to God lately.
Now....
it is time
to
listen.
Thankfully,
God proves again and again....
to be
God
of grace....
God
of patience....
and God
of future.
Thankfully God has not
squashed me
with divine strength
like a little
bug.
Though I have been
annoying as a gnat
flying in the corner of a moist
eye on a hot summer day....
God
once again....
has
listened....
laughed....
sighed....
and patiently
reminded
me that I
have never known....
can not know now....
nor will I know in the
very near future....
the full depth and
width of God's love.
All I can do today,
and tomorrow is
trust God's love.
Like Job....
I am
finally
hearing
God
with new ears
and
heart.

I've gotten caught up on your Blog ... I've read the reader's comments ... I've seen the notes dripping with harsh judgment and hate from Barbie, who has locked her blogger profile away from view ...
I've read your words ... laughed and cried ... cheered and cringed ... I've been to the valley bottom and to the mountain top ... and I am glad to call you a colleague and a friend ... your voice may not always be comfortable, but I KNOW in the heart of my being, that you are a beloved child of God, and that Job like you are walking a path of restoration and resurrection.
Thank you Blake for sharing your thoughts, your words and your heart ... I for one value you and the ministry you bring to the world ... YOU ARE A PASTOR - Thanks be to God !!
