Many have heard about Joseph.
The boy with a coat of many colors.
The other Joseph was a loving father who raised one named Jesus.
We had our own Joseph.
He wore little red cowboy boots to church.
We could hear him coming into the sanctuary.
Joseph was part of our lives.
What a sight he was during that worship moment
when we pass the peace of Christ.
Joseph would walk up to people, 2, 4, 8 times taller
and confidently stick out his hand to shake it and say
the customary words:
"May the peace of Christ be with you."
My favorite Joseph moment was when he came forward to the
communion table to participate in the Sacrament
of the Lord's Supper.
His face said it all.
"I am ready!"
And was he ever. He took the bread and ate.
And then he took the cup and drank.....
and drank....
and then stuck his toungue down into that little
glass communion cup to get every molecule
of blessing.
Joseph showed us what it means to "partake"
in the holy meal our Savior hosts.
Take it in.
Take it all in.....every molecule of blessing.

Joseph is a blessing...
the Joseph in my life wore rubber boots and a cape to Church and ran around exclaiming his role as "superkid" ... I have vivid memories of him charging full tilt into a wall sliding to the floor, then getting up and zooming off in another direction exclaiming - "SuperKid!!" and his cape fluttering ...
12 years later, on the Thanksgiving of his 16th Birthday, superkid's earthly journey ended in a tragic, senseless car accident, that robbed his family and we his circle of friends of a tremendous young man who left us a legacy of love, laughter and life ... there is not a day that goes by that I don't miss him ...
Joseph's are precious in our world and our lives AND in our ministry ... they teach us what life is ALL about !!
