Gossip is what I predicted and expected. It is simply what some do best in life. Here are some truths about gossip:
1. If I talk about "him/her/them" then you won't notice me and my dysfunction.
2. Because I know something you don't know....gives me power and importance. But in the long term such power and importance is shallow and fades.
3. Gossip is one way to place blame on others. "You see, it is because of "him/her/them" that we had problems." It certainly doesn't have to do with you/me/us!
4. Gossip is condemned in scripture in the same way adultery, drunkenness, and murder are condemned. Yet the church tolerates gossip. Why are we not debating wheter or not those who gossip should be or not be leaders in the church?
5. Gossip is cowardly, mean-spirited, and destructive.
6. Gossip is a sad way to get attention.
7. Gossip is designed to separate and divide.
8. Whether or not gossip has truth or not does not negate the destructiveness of gossip.
I'm sure the list could go on. Like I said, gossip is what I predicted and totally expected and one reason that I am thankful that many changes in my life have taken place.
